Bach’s chorale rises like incense, Mathis’s voice a clear bell above the counterpoint. The closing movement of BWV 51 trades trumpet fanfare for humble praise, yet the soprano’s line still glitters—a quiet, radiant certainty that joy and duty are the same breath.
