About This Song
About "Piano Sonata in E flat, H.XVI No. 49 : Haydn: Piano Sonata in E flat, H.XVI No. 49: 3. Finale (Tempo di minuetto)" by Alfred Brendel
The Finale wears a minuet's mask, but Brendel lets the tempo tug at its seams. Haydn's dance becomes a courtly charade—graceful steps over a floor that might give way. The wit is dry, the elegance edged with a smile that knows too much. A farewell that refuses to leave.
