About "You Wreck Me" by Cherie Currie
Currie takes Petty's roadhouse stomp and drags it through a glitter-streaked alley. The wreckage here is emotional, not vehicular—a slow-motion collision of desire and self-destruction, sung with the weary swagger of someone who's already survived the crash.
