About This Song
About "Did You Hear John Hurt?" by Anne Hills
Hills pays tribute to the Mississippi John Hurt with affectionate, unhurried grace, the question in the title a door into memory. Fingerpicked warmth and conversational phrasing evoke a living room, not a stage. The emotional register is gratitude tinged with elegy—calm on the surface, but carrying the quiet ache of what's passed.
