About This Song
About "I Puritani / Act 1 : Bellini: I Puritani / Act 1: O amato zio, o mio secondo padre!" by Beverly Sills
A daughter's cry to her 'amato zio' becomes a labyrinth of tenderness and fear. Sills imbues Bellini's melody with aching intimacy, the strings sighing beneath her like a second voice. The aria's beauty is a veil over quiet desperation—love and duty entwined, neither willing to release.
