About This Song
About "Das Rheingold : Act II : So schirme sie Jetzt" by Astrid Varnay
A deceptive lullaby of protection, sung over a bed of restless brass. Varnay’s tone is maternal yet edged with foreboding, as if she knows the shield she offers is made of smoke. The tension between shelter and inevitable exposure hums in every syllable, a fortress built on water.
