Bizet's Pearl Fishers duet rises from the orchestra like incense in a submerged temple, the Bavarian strings shimmering with underwater light. The 'Au fond du temple saint' melody arrives as both vow and elegy, its serene surface trembling with the tension of friendship and desire.
