About "L'elisir d'amore / Act I : Donizetti: L'elisir d'amore / Act I: "Tran, tran, tran, tran - In guerra ed in amor"" by Kathleen Battle
Donizetti’s military drumroll announces a mock-heroic swagger, Kathleen Battle’s soprano cutting through the pomp with sly wit. The ‘tran, tran’ rhythm marches like toy soldiers, but beneath the comic bluster lies a knowing tension—love and war as equally absurd, equally irresistible campaigns.
