About This Song
About "Sweet Sixteen" by Big Joe Turner
'Sweet Sixteen' is a blues ballad with a bruised heart, Turner's delivery heavy with paternal warning and weary love. The horns moan like distant trains, and the steady, walking bass creates a sense of inevitable passage—innocence slipping through fingers like sand.
