About This Song
About "Sayuri's Theme (From "Memoirs Of A Geisha")" by Anne Sophie Mutter
Mutter draws Sayuri's theme as a single silk thread through Williams's orchestral gauze, violin tone both fragile and precise. The melody bows with remembered grace, evoking a geisha's measured steps across tatami. Nostalgia and restraint entwine: a portrait painted in minor hues, its beauty sharpened by the knowledge of what has been lost.
