About This Song
About "Speaking Japanese" by Brett Johnson
A title that hints at dislocation, but Johnson's production is pure electronic soul. 'Speaking Japanese' rides a rubbery bassline and clipped vocal samples, creating a playful tension between communication and confusion. It's a conversation in a language you almost understand.
