About This Song
About "Gounod: Roméo et Juliette, Act 1: Valse. "Ah ! Je veux vivre dans ce rêve" (Juliette)" by Georges Prêtre
Juliette's waltz spins on a pin of reckless joy, coloratura glittering like sunlight through a cracked window. Prêtre keeps the tempo buoyant yet brittle, as if the dream could shatter mid-phrase. Callas turns youthful rapture into a premonition of tragedy.
