I Like Train Songs

Some folks are writing love songs and songs about a girl
Some are writing all about the ending of the world
Some like songs of happiness and some of times of pain
You can keep them all, I like my songs about a train

I'm on a choo choo rolling, never coming back
On the choo choo rolling, that's my kind of track

Well, I don't mind a story of a man that's been through hell
If he's an engineer and reaching up to ring the bell
I can take a sacred song that's serious and slow
As long as in between the lines, I hear the whistle blow

I'm on a choo choo rolling, never coming back
On the choo choo rolling, that's my kind of track

Well, I heard about a man whose broken heart was torn in two
And everybody's got a protest song for you know who
Well, you can keep them borrowed ditties stuck inside your brain
The only thing that clears 'em out are songs about a train

I'm on a choo choo rolling, never coming back
On the choo choo rolling, that's my kind of track

Well, you can spike the football, or you can spike the punch
Burn right through your paycheck on a four-martini lunch
Pouring top-shelf liquor might as well be cheap champagne
That don't wet my whistle like a song about a train

I'm on a choo choo rolling, never coming back
On the choo choo rolling, that's my kind of track

I could live without a stanza 'bout some roses being red
And violets are just flowers when they're shriveled up and dead
Well, I need a murder ballad like a bullet to the brain
But I still make my living singing songs about a train

I'm on a choo choo rolling, never coming back
On the choo choo rolling, that's my kind of track

I'm on that choo choo rolling, never coming back
On the choo choo rolling, that's my kind of track
