About This Song
About "Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, Op. 43 : Rachmaninoff: Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, Op. 43 - Variation 16. Allegretto" by Bella Davidovich
Rachmaninoff's sixteenth variation flickers like a candle in a draught—Allegretto's playful exterior barely conceals a nervous pulse. Davidovich teases out the sardonic wit, her fingers dancing over a harmonic tightrope. It's a moment of brittle gaiety before the storm, elegance shadowed by impending grandeur.
