About "Watching From The Bandstand" by Billy Joe Royal
Billy Joe Royal's 'Watching From The Bandstand' is a slice of blue-eyed soul with a country lilt. From his vantage point, Royal observes the dancers below, his voice a mix of wistful detachment and warm participation. The bandstand becomes a metaphor for the artist's perpetual role as witness.
