About "John Henry" by Memphis Slim
Memphis Slim's 'John Henry' is a spare, piano-driven ballad of the steel-driving man. The rolling left hand mimics the hammer's fall, while the vocal carries a stoic calm—a quiet, tragic tension between human will and the unyielding mountain.
