About "Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, WWV 96, Act I, Scene 3: "Das schöne Fest, Johannistag"" by Benno Kusche
The first act's festive proclamation rings with civic pride, but the stately melody carries a whiff of anxiety. The orchestra swells with ceremonial grandeur, yet Kusche lets the counterlines bristle, hinting at the simmering rivalries beneath Nuremberg's harmonious surface. A celebration shadowed by the fear of change.
