About This Song
About "Der Herr ist König, TWV 8:6: I. Der Herr ist König" by Ann Monoyios
Telemann's sacred cantata opens with regal brass and a choir that feels both triumphant and watchful. Monoyios's soprano cuts through the pomp, a solitary voice in a cathedral of sound. Majesty, but with a shiver of judgment.
