About This Song
About "Kreisler: Tambourin Chinois, Op. 3" by Christian Li
Kreisler's Tambourin Chinois gets a dazzling reading from Li—faux-Oriental flourishes and percussive bowing create a kaleidoscopic tension. The piece flirts with caricature but Li finds genuine pathos beneath the fireworks. Calm lyricism interrupted by sudden bursts of virtuosic unease.
