About "Masquerade Suite, Op. 48b (Transcr. Dolukhanian for Piano) : Khachaturian: Masquerade Suite, Op. 48b (Transcr. Dolukhanian for Piano): IV. Romance" by Aram Khachaturian
The Romance unfolds like a letter read by candlelight, its piano line tender but frayed at the edges. There's a push-pull between warmth and distance, as if the melody is reaching for someone who has already left the room. Elegiac, not sentimental.
