About This Song
About "St. Mathew Passion, BWV 244: "Erbarme dich"" by Andrea Marcon
Bach's 'Erbarme dich' is a slow bleed of divine mercy. The violin solo weeps above a bed of strings, while the alto voice pleads with a quiet, unbearable dignity. Marcon draws out the ache—not dramatic, but intimate, like a prayer whispered in an empty cathedral at dawn.
