About "Stabat Mater, RV 621 : Vivaldi: Stabat Mater, RV 621: I. Stabat Mater – II. Cuius animam – III. O quam tristis" by Christopher Hogwood
Vivaldi’s Stabat Mater opens with a mother’s grief carved in slow, aching suspensions. Hogwood lets the strings bleed beneath the countertenor’s lament—each phrase a tear suspended mid-fall. The music’s calm is deceptive: beneath the sorrowful surface, a quiet, unrelenting sorrow pulses.
