About "Die ihr aus dunkeln Gruften, HWV 208 (O All who Dig vain Mammon / From dark caverns)" by Ann Monoyios
Handel’s cantata opens with a cavernous image: digging vainly for treasure in dark vaults. Monoyios’s soprano hovers between admonition and lament, the baroque line glinting like a coin in shadow—moral clarity undercut by a haunting, hollow beauty.
