About This Song
About "Stabat Mater, P. 77 : Pergolesi: Stabat Mater, P. 77: X. Alto. Fac, ut portem Christi mortem" by Christa Ludwig
Ludwig’s 'Fac, ut portem' is a plea carved from marble and breath, the alto line ascending with a dignified, almost unbearable slowness. The orchestra shivers beneath her like candlelight in a drafty chapel—devotion held taut against the body’s inevitable decay.
