About This Song
About "Waldszenen, Op. 82 : Schumann: Waldszenen, Op. 82: 9. Abschied" by Christoph Eschenbach
Schumann's final 'Waldszene' is a leave-taking from the forest—quiet, elegiac, and softly bittersweet. Eschenbach lets the notes fall like autumn leaves, each one a gentle farewell. There's no storm here, only the hush of dusk and the ache of closing a door on something beloved. A whisper of goodbye.
