About "Die Jahreszeiten - Hob. XXI:3 - Der Herbst : Haydn: Die Jahreszeiten - Hob. XXI:3 - Der Herbst: No. 22 Duett: "Ihr schönen aus der Stadt"" by Edith Mathis
Haydn’s Autumn duet is a rustic toast to city folk, and Mathis sings with a smile in her voice. The melody skips like a harvest dance, the orchestra ripe with horn and woodwind. But beneath the charm lies a gentle satire: the “beautiful ones from the city” are guests in a world they barely understand.
