About "Purcell: Welcome to All the Pleasures, Z. 339 "St Cecilia Day Ode": VI. Song and Ritornello. "Beauty, Thou Scene of Love"" by Andrew Parrott
A Baroque ode to St. Cecilia blooms with ceremonial warmth, yet 'Beauty, Thou Scene of Love' carries a fragile, fleeting shimmer—like candlelight trembling before a draft. Parrott draws out the tension between public praise and private longing, each ritornello a step further into a garden where delight and melancholy entwine.
