About "Marshaling Forces" by Simon Franglen
Franglen assembles a rhythmic ostinato that marches with quiet menace, brass and percussion locking into a grim clockwork. Marshaling Forces is all coiled anticipation—no battle yet, just the terrifying calm before. The tension is in the repetition: each bar tightens the screw another turn.
