About "Bach, J.S.: Prelude & Fugue in A Minor, BWV 543, "The Great" (Transcr. Franz Liszt): Fugue" by Alexis Weissenberg

Liszt's transcription inflates Bach's fugue into a virtuoso drama. Weissenberg thunders through the subject with dramatic weight, but the counterpoint remains lucid—a tug-of-war between Baroque architecture and Romantic fireworks, where solemnity and spectacle collide in a single, sweeping breath.
