About "Piano Sonata in E flat, H.XVI No. 49 : Haydn: Piano Sonata in E flat, H.XVI No. 49: 1. Allegro" by Alfred Brendel
Allegro opens like a door thrown wide onto a sunlit ballroom. Brendel's Haydn is all poise and sudden pivots, the E-flat major theme a greeting that might be a feint. Under the brilliance, a rhythmic restlessness—a host who keeps glancing at the clock, charming but already elsewhere.
