About "Maître Péronilla, Acte I: Ballade de la belle Espagnole. "Il était un joli jeune homme"" by Orchestre National De France
Offenbach’s ballade spins a sly tale of a pretty young man—the Orchestre National de France delivers it with theatrical charm, the melody bouncing between coyness and mischief. It’s a music-hall wink, dressed in operatic finery, never quite sincere.
