About "Away in a Manger (Arr. J. Rutter) [1]" by Cambridge Singers
Rutter's setting of the manger lullaby strips away sentimentality, leaving a gentle, rocking stillness. The choir's blend is so smooth it seems to lower the room's temperature—a hush of straw and starlight. The tension is between innocence and the vast night outside, tenderly held in a single, repeating phrase.
