About "Passion selon Saint-Matthieu, BWV 244: "Erbarme dich, mein Gott"" by Christian Pierre La Marca
From Bach's St Matthew Passion, 'Erbarme dich' is a plea for mercy. La Marca's cello weeps with restrained dignity, the melody a slow tear tracing a cheek. The orchestral backdrop is hushed, almost breathless—guilt and grace locked in a trembling embrace, sorrow made unbearably beautiful.
