About This Song
About "Tárrega: Marieta (Mazurka)" by Andrés Segovia
A mazurka that twirls like a child in a sunlit square, 'Marieta' is Tárrega at his most affectionate. Segovia’s touch is feather-light, the melody skipping over a waltz-time bass. Yet the minor-key middle section casts a sudden cloud—a fleeting melancholy that makes the return of the dance feel like a gift.
