About "Les goûts-réunis, Concert No. 8 "Dans le goût théâtral" : F. Couperin: Les goûts-réunis, Concert No. 8 "Dans le goût théâtral": II. Grande ritournelle. Gravement" by Aurèle Nicolet
Couperin's Grande ritournelle unfolds with the gravity of a curtain rising. Nicolet's flute intones the gravement with ceremonial weight, each note a velvet drape. The theatrical goût is palpable—a stately procession that hints at drama lurking just offstage, calm surface over roiling depths.
