"I Never Wanted to Be That Girl" is a story of two women
Ashley and I, we've decided that we don't think that they
Ever meet because I think in a lot of stories like this
And a lot of situations like this, the women never do meet
They just know about each other

And Ashley writes from the perspective of not knowing that there
Is another woman and that she's actually married to this person
And it's this feeling where she feels cheap
And she feels used and she feels stupid
And she hates herself for that because
She never wanted to hurt the girl
She just didn't know that there was another girl

And for me, I think the line that really got me and I
Think I cried in the room was talking about this girl
Who her husband jumps in the shower when he gets home
And she spends half an hour going through his phone
And she feels dumb, but she feels dumb for a different reason
She feels dumb that she's staying in this
Relationship looking at somebody's phone
That makes you feel so stupid
And it's so interesting for me, and I know for Ashley

That we were able to write with the same chorus two
Different perspectives of just never wanting to be that girl
