About This Song
About "Il Trovatore, Act IV: "Mira, d'acerbe lagrime" (Leonora)" by Antonietta Stella
Stella's Leonora sings of bitter tears in this Act IV aria, her voice a vessel for both grief and resolve. The title's image—'look, bitter tears'—is painted in swooping, aching phrases, the orchestral accompaniment a slow tide pulling against the singer's quiet, devastating dignity.
