About This Song
About "Ely Canticles: I. Magnificat" by Anna Lapwood
The Magnificat rises with a stately, architectural sweep, voices climbing like pillars in a cathedral nave. Lapwood shapes the canticle with both grandeur and restraint, the joy of the text tempered by a sober harmonic palette. It is praise with a shadow of awe.
