About "Mama Was a Preacher" by Big Al Downing
A honky-tonk piano rolls like a congregation of sinners, Big Al Downing testifying with a preacher's fire. The title's maternal ghost hovers over a barroom sermon, where salvation and Saturday night blur. The tension between sacred duty and worldly temptation crackles in every note.
