About This Song
About "Piano Sonata in E minor, H.XVI No.34 : Haydn: Piano Sonata in E minor, H.XVI No.34: 3. Vivace molto, innocentemente" by Alfred Brendel
Vivace molto, innocentemente—the title is a dare. Brendel plays Haydn's finale with a child's skipping rhythm and a conspirator's wink. The innocence is studied, the molto vivace a race against something unspoken. It's joy with a shadow at its heels, a game that ends just before the rules change.
