About "Brahms: Academic Festival Overture, Op. 80" by Berliner Philharmoniker
Brahms’s Academic Festival Overture is a boisterous parade of student songs, led by a swaggering brass choir. The Berliner Philharmoniker balances pomp with mischief: a scholarly wink, a beer-hall stomp, and a grand, chorale-like finish. It’s joy with a touch of irony, academic robes worn loosely.
