About "Khachaturian: Violin Concerto in D Minor, Op. 46: I. Allegro con fermezza (Cadenza by Oistrakh)" by Aram Khachaturian
Oistrakh's cadenza turns the concerto's opening into a tightrope walk over a dark orchestral chasm. The allegro con fermezza is all clenched-jaw resolve, the solo violin carving fierce, angular phrases that feel less like a performance than a dare issued to the void.
