About This Song
About "II, 5: Aria (Dardano: Pena tiranna io sento al core)" by Al Ayre Español
From Handel's 'Teseo,' this aria—'Pena tiranna io sento al core'—is a tyrant's grief made audible. Al Ayre Español draws out the tension between ornate beauty and raw pain: the voice floats, but the heart is in chains. Calm surfaces, turbulent depths.
