About This Song
About "Cool Blues" by Cecil Payne
Blue notes unfurl like cigarette smoke in a dimly lit after-hours spot. Payne's baritone is all relaxed authority, cool without being cold. The tempo saunters, each phrase a slow drag on a cigarette, the emotional temperature hovering between contentment and a faint, unspoken ache.
