About This Song
About "I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly" by Burl Ives
Ives animates this cumulative children's rhyme with a twinkle-eyed cadence, each absurd swallow building like a musical staircase. The whimsy is infectious, but the old lady's insatiable appetite hints at a darker, more primal hunger beneath the nursery charm.
