About "Save the Last Dance for Me" by Billy Joe Royal
Billy Joe Royal's cover of the Drifters classic trades doo-wop innocence for a knowing, country-soul ache. The plea to 'save the last dance' becomes a quiet standoff between pride and vulnerability, wrapped in warm organ and a gently swaying groove.
