About "Bizet: Carmen, WD 31: Prélude" by Georges Prêtre
Carmen’s prelude is a bullring in miniature: brass fanfare, then a shadowed theme that coils like a snake under a matador’s cape. The calm of the opening chords gives way to a fatalistic unease—a premonition of blood and castanets, where passion and doom share the same melody.
