About This Song
About "IRA Hayes" by Townes Van Zandt
Townes Van Zandt resurrects Ira Hayes not as myth but as ghost. Over spare, fingerpicked folk, the tragedy of the forgotten hero unfolds—a flag raised then abandoned. The calm delivery belies the gut-punch: a eulogy for a man buried by his own country's indifference, the desert wind carrying only regret.
