About "Stabat Mater, RV 621 : Vivaldi: Stabat Mater, RV 621: I. Stabat Mater dolorosa" by The English Concert
The English Concert opens Vivaldi's Stabat Mater with a dolorosa that feels like a held breath. The countertenor's line pierces the ensemble's dark weave, grief rendered not as collapse but as unbearable stillness—a mother's sorrow carved in marble, trembling.
