About This Song
About "Lieder ohne Worte, Op. 19b: No. 1 in E Major. Andante con moto, MWV U 86" by Igor Levit
Mendelssohn's wordless song unfolds in Levit's hands as a gentle tide of Romantic piano—no text, only a hovering calm. Yet beneath the andante's placid shimmer, a quiet loneliness ripples, like a lake reflecting an empty sky.
